COMPOSITES IN ARCHITECTURE @ A.C.M.A. IN DENVER

The current and future use of composites in architecture will be explored in a day-long conference in Denver on May 15, 2013. It will feature speakers from a broad variety of perspectives who will discuss both the potential applications and the real-world challenges of this emerging construction material. American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) Western Chapter Conference runs from May 15-16.

RV PROTOTYPE

RV PROTOTYPE House is a 1/5th scale model of a house that increases living space by rotating in two axes on a robotic base.  In addition to a floor in one orientation, one wall and the ceiling surface can be rotated as new floors.  150m2 of living surface is realized within a 60m2 footprint.  Made of a lightweight cored carbon fiber fabric the entire shell weighs less than 50 kilos allowing it to rotate freely.

The robotic model will be on exhibition at INTERIEUR 2012: Future Primitives from October 20-28 in the Kortrijk Xpo, Hall 4.

48 piece set of Flatware Prototypes are included in the American Art exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in the Art of the Americas, Level 3 galleries. In addition, on 5 June 2012, the Alessi “Supple” Cups were entered into the permanent collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Decorative Arts and Design Department.
